On 21 October 2026, Whop announced a $200 million Series D at a $5.1 billion valuation, led by Sequoia and Shopify Ventures. It is the loudest moment in a year that already included a Tether investment, a SpaceXAI partnership that put Whop inside Grok and Cursor, and a payments stack rebuilt for platforms.
It is also the moment when search results about Whop fill up with half-facts. This page documents what Whop actually announced, which partnerships and integrations are real, what the platform costs in 2026, and what changes for the people selling on it.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Announcement date | 21 October 2026 |
| Round | $200M Series D |
| Valuation | $5.1B, up from $1.6B in February 2026 |
| Lead investors | Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures |
| Board | Sequoia partner Doug Leone joins Whop's board |
| Stated use of funds | Global expansion and R&D in payments and advertising |
| Operators | Roughly 25,000 businesses generate about $550M on Whop each month |
| Additional earners | More than 50,000 other people earn from those businesses every month |
| Lifetime volume | $7B+ in on-platform transactions across 185 countries |
| Headquarters | Palo Alto, California, with offices in New York |
Whop frames the round as infrastructure for people who cannot find traditional work. In the announcement, CEO Steven Schwartz says the company designs Whop around business operators first, because "businesses are the primary conduit by which people earn money and create value." Doug Leone of Sequoia puts the scale bluntly: "They're doing about a half billion revenue, business is doing great."
This is the question behind most of the searches, so here is the direct answer: no integration was announced.
What happened is an investment. Shopify Ventures participated in the Series D alongside Sequoia. That is strategically interesting, because Whop has spent 2026 positioning itself as the payment stack that platforms and commerce businesses run on, which is adjacent to Shopify's own territory. But an investment is not an integration, and Whop's own materials do not describe one.
If a real Shopify connector ships, it will appear in Whop's newsroom and developer docs first. Until then, treat "Whop Shopify integration" as a funding relationship, not a product feature.
Whop's 2026 is easier to read as a sequence of partnerships than as a sequence of product launches.
| Date | Partner or event | What it actually does |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-02 | Tether | $200M strategic investment at a $1.6B valuation, with stablecoin rails and treasury infrastructure |
| 2026-03 | Hidden Studios | Acquired to power Whop Ads |
| 2026-04 | Smart routing | Multi-PSP orchestration that routes each transaction to the processor most likely to approve it |
| 2026-05 | Meta | Whop Ads launches with Meta agency accounts and first-party attribution |
| 2026-06 | Numeral | Whop Tax Service: automated sales tax calculation, collection and remittance |
| 2026-07 | Replit | Embedded Whop checkout components inside a coding platform |
| 2026-08 | SpaceXAI | Whop named Grok's first full-stack business connector |
| 2026-09 | SpaceXAI, expanded | Grok Bot and the Cursor Marketplace, with Grok reaching 117M monthly users |
| 2026-09 | Whop Partners | Public partner terms: 30% of the revenue Whop earns from referred businesses, 1% of their ad spend, paid in perpetuity |
| 2026-10 | Sequoia, Shopify Ventures | $200M Series D at a $5.1B valuation |
Alongside those, Whop lists API and checkout partnerships with Poke and Cal.com that extend the same stack into other apps.
The pattern is consistent: Whop is selling infrastructure to other businesses, not only selling products to consumers. Every partnership on that list either brings in merchants, brings in payment volume, or brings in a surface where an AI agent can transact.
Whop launched its CLI in July 2026 and added MCP connectors, so an AI agent can create products, run checkouts, inspect revenue and manage disputes through prompts. Whop says the CLI and MCP connectors together receive more than 350,000 calls a day from about 14,700 monthly active users.
The Grok connector is the consumer-facing version of that idea. Once you authorize your Whop account, Grok can suggest pricing, set up a checkout, pull live revenue and ad performance, and launch a campaign inside the conversation. The Cursor integration is the developer-facing version: install Whop under Payments in the Cursor Marketplace and your coding environment can create products and accept payments without a separate dashboard session.
Announced in September and promoted again in October, Economic Intelligence is a decision engine trained on Whop's transaction data. It recommends the next action most likely to increase revenue for a specific business. It is not free in the usual sense: businesses hand over an additional percentage of the revenue earned from using it, on top of the base processing rate.
That pricing model is worth noticing. Whop is experimenting with taking a share of outcomes, not just a share of transactions.
Blueprints let a new operator launch a ready-to-sell business in a few clicks. Whop says more than 21,000 businesses were created through Blueprints in the six weeks after launch. It is the clearest sign that the company's growth strategy is volume of new operators rather than depth of features for existing ones.
Whop's own figures in the October announcement:
Two caveats. First, these are company-reported numbers, not audited financials. Second, monthly volume and lifetime volume measure different things, so do not multiply one by twelve and expect it to match the other; press coverage of Whop has mixed the two all year.
What the numbers do support is the direction: Whop is no longer a marketplace where creators sell Discord access. It is a payments and operations layer with a marketplace attached, and the Series D is funding that shift.
No fee line changed with the round. The published schedule remains:
| Fee | Amount | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Card processing | 2.7% + $0.30 | Every successful domestic card transaction |
| International cards | +1.5% | Buyer card issued outside your domestic market |
| Currency conversion | +1% | Buyer pays in a different currency |
| Orchestration | 0.8% | Optional, when smart routing is enabled |
| Billing | 0.5% | Optional, when Whop billing is enabled |
| Tax and remittance | 2% | When tax is collected through Whop and Numeral |
| Affiliate | 1.25% | When an affiliate is paid through Whop Payments |
| Monthly platform fee | $0 | No monthly cost on the standard plan |
With everything enabled and tax collected, Whop documents the all-in rate as 6% + $0.30.
The part sellers underestimate is the fixed 30 cents. On a single $1,000 sale you pay $27.30, or 2.73%. On one hundred $10 sales you pay $27 plus $30, which is $57, or 5.7%. Low-ticket digital products carry roughly double the effective rate of high-ticket ones, and that math does not change because a company raised money.
A $200 million Series D at a $5.1 billion valuation, led by Sequoia Capital and Shopify Ventures, announced on 21 October 2026. The stated purpose is global expansion and R&D in payments and advertising.
No product partnership was announced. Shopify Ventures invested in Whop's Series D. A Shopify checkout or app integration does not appear in Whop's newsroom, documentation or partner pages as of 23 October 2026.
$5.1 billion after the October round. In February 2026, Tether's $200 million strategic investment valued the company at $1.6 billion.
Not on its standard published rate. Whop lists 2.7% + $0.30 per successful domestic card transaction with no monthly or platform fee. Optional services add percentage points: orchestration 0.8%, billing 0.5%, tax and remittance 2%, affiliate 1.25%.
Both, and increasingly the second. It operates a marketplace with its own discovery and audience, and it sells the underlying payments, tax, payouts and API infrastructure to other platforms and businesses.
As of October 2026: SpaceXAI (Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor), Replit, Poke, Cal.com, Meta through Whop Ads, and Numeral for tax handling. Tether is an investor and a payments partner.
Whop reports coverage across 185 countries, support for 100+ payment methods, and payouts in local currency through several rails. Actual availability of specific payment methods depends on the buyer's location and the seller's account setup.
